ISO 22000 certification is a certification developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in the field of food safety. The adoption of a food safety management system certification is considered a strategic and appropriate decision for organizations to improve overall food safety performance.
ISO 22000 is an international food safety standard that is globally accepted and recognized. Businesses in the food supply chain that implement and obtain ISO 22000 certification are viewed as organizations with effective food hygiene and safety management systems, ensuring the provision of safe and quality food products to consumers.
The ISO 22000 standard was developed with the contributions of 187 member countries worldwide. It was first issued on September 1, 2005, and has been officially recognized as a national standard in Vietnam (TCVN ISO 22000).
According to the provisions of Decree No. 15/2018/ND-CP, issued on February 2, 2018, detailing the implementation of certain articles of the Law on Food Safety: “Enterprises that have been granted one of the following certificates: Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), or ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System certification are not required to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility for Food Safety.”
