To meet the important need for evaluating educational institutions for learners, interested parties, beneficiaries, and improving the capabilities of educational organizations, the ISO 21001:2018 Quality Management System (QMS) for educational organizations has been issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
This standard specifies requirements for an Educational Organization Management System (EOMS), in which the organization needs to demonstrate its ability to support the acquisition and development of competence through teaching, learning, or research activities;
The purpose is to enhance the satisfaction of learners, other interested parties, and employees through the effective application of the EOMS, including continual improvement of system processes and ensuring conformity with the requirements of learners, students, and other beneficiaries;
All requirements of this standard are generic and intended to be applicable to any organization that uses a curriculum to support the development of competence through teaching, learning, or research, regardless of type, size, or delivery method;
This standard can be applied to educational organizations within larger organizations whose core business is not education, such as professional training departments;
This standard does not apply to organizations that only produce or manufacture educational products.

The quality management system for educational organizations according to ISO 21001 is established based on 11 principles, including several principles specifically designed for educational organization quality management systems.
Sustainable success is achieved when an educational organization can meet the needs of all learners while attracting and maintaining the trust of other interested parties such as employers, parents, and government authorities.
Successful organizations work to ensure that every learner reaches their highest potential. All activities carried out by educational institutions create opportunities to generate greater value for learners and other beneficiaries.
Visionary leadership involves engaging learners and other interested parties in establishing, developing, and implementing the mission, vision, and objectives of the enterprise or organization.
Educational institutions need to take responsibility for the impacts of their decisions and activities on society, the economy, and the environment through transparency and ethical behavior.
Educational organizations need to ensure that their educational products and services are accessible to the widest possible range of people, taking into account resource limitations and constraints. Organizations must also ensure that all learners can access and benefit from these products and services fairly and equitably.
The organization’s ability to create a professional and ethical environment in which interested parties are treated fairly, conflicts of interest are avoided, and activities are carried out for the benefit of society as a whole.
To achieve sustainable success, organizations need to build an image of integrity, honesty, and fairness in dealing with interested parties. Employees of the organization must maintain the highest professional standards in all interactions.
Enterprises and organizations need to create an environment in which all interested parties can interact with educational organizations with complete confidence that they retain control over the use of their data and that the educational organization will handle their data carefully and with appropriate confidentiality.
The above information relates to the ISO 21001:2018 Standard applicable to educational organizations.
